Wine for Christmas

You’ll have to watch the video to see which wine I chose for Christmas! Hint – it’s a Châteauneuf-du-Pape and I wrote a little song about it that I sing in the video, to everyone’s detriment. Lyrics below.

to the tune of Jingle Bells

Drinking through the night
at the family open bar
Oh this wine is right
It’s really a star
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
with my Christmas meal
Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre the crops
they match the mood with zeal

Oh Châteauneuf, Châteauneuf,
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Oh how well you soften the beef
and make it not so tough
Châteauneuf, Châteauneuf,
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Oh how well you warm me up
since the snow won’t stop

A time or two ago
I learned about your name
It means the Pope’s new castle
To Avignon he came
The Pope really liked the wine
and promoted it to his flock
on the bottle there’s still the sign
that he wears above his frock

Oh Châteauneuf, Châteauneuf,
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Oh how well you soften the beef
and make it not so tough
Châteauneuf, Châteauneuf,
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Oh how well you warm me up
since the snow won’t stop

Merry Christmas!!
