Wine for Valentine’s Day
For Valentine’s Day try this super fresh, playful wine from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The wine, made from 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir, has ripe strawberry and lemon zest notes that make it both delicious and food-friendly. Your Valentine will love the message – aren’t you so in love that you’re Love Drunk? Or perhaps you’re just drunk. Either way, the label has this message attached to a rose: “WHEN REALITY IS BETTER THAN UR DREAMS.” I dig it and so will your love, unless s/he has no sense of humor, in which case you should break up.
I also dig the story behind the wine. It’s made by Andre Mack, a former Citicorp employee “who decided to leave his ‘desk job’ to pursue his passion for wine.” Following his passion proved to be the right choice (isn’t it always?) for Mack, who soon after received accolades for his work as a sommelier. He was the first African-American to receive the prestigious title of Best Young Sommelier in America. From there he went on to work at The French Laundry and Per Se in New York City. Now he makes tasteful wines under the label Mouton Noir, including a wine with the best name ever: O.P.P. (Other People’s Pinot).
So open up a bottle of 2010 Love Drunk Rosé this Valentine’s Day and fall even more drunkenly in love with your sweetheart.
You can purchase Love Drunk Rosé on the Mouton Noir website.
